My name is Teresa Heidenreich and I have been the director at WCPL since January 2009. My connection to this library goes back a long way! As a child, I sat on the wooden reading bench in the children’s room and devoured many books. I worked as a library student aide in high school & college. After a short stint as an accountant, the realization hit that the field in which I was called to be in was library services. Fortunately, there was an opening at the library, and I was able to spend many years learning the ins-and-outs of library service while earning my master’s in library science from Indiana University.

          I feel very blessed to work in the community where I was raised and continue to live. All of you matter. My role as Library Director is to ensure that you receive the very best library services possible from our professional, resourceful, and helpful staff. We strive to make every encounter a pleasant and rewarding experience. WCPL continues to expand its services, programs, and other resources to meet the needs of our growing community. We offer a wide variety of fun and innovative programming to our public, including computer instruction classes, imaginative children’s programming, a state-of-the-art STEM lab & programming, a local history/genealogy room for researching, thought-provoking book discussions, and a wide variety of mind-expanding programs for adults. Lastly, the. WCPL website aims to provide all residents of the Washington area with useful and convenient library information, services, activities, and databases to assist in research and recreational needs.
