One morning the zoo keeper was late. The zoo animals had to wait for their breakfast. The hungry animals made a lot of noise, but they couldn't wake the zoo keeper up. Who had a good idea to wake him up?
2) Stone Soup
The man in this story was very hungry because he had been lost in the forest with no food. He asked an old woman to give him some food, but she was too mean to share. The young man played a clever trick on the mean woman and they both had a good dinner.
3) Whale Rescue
Sometimes whales seem to forget that they need to stay in deep water. Whales are much too big to swim in shallow water. If they come too close to the beach they get stuck. Kind people try to push them away from the shore, but they have to wait for the tide to come in to make the water deep enough.
This is a legend, which is an old story that has been told for many years to describe how something happened. It was once believed to be true, but there is no way to prove whether the story is true or not. You just have to decide that for yourself!
