The Fall Book Sale on October 4 and 5 was successful.  Several members of FOL volunteered their time for the sale.  The men from the Lighthouse assisted with the set up.

Teresa is making contact with the Daviess Community Hospital to purchase a defibrillator for the Library. FOL had voted to purchase the defibrillator to improve the safety of the library.

Members of Friends and library staff have met to discuss a wine and cheese fundraiser for FOL to take place in the spring.  They have also discussed other different ways for the group to raise money.  All proceeds go towards assisting the library with programming and staff education.

NEW BUSINESS

A discussion was held regarding FOL assisting with the digitizing of the newspapers.  There is money from a library gift fund to cover the expense at this time.  A discussion was held about FOL contributing to the yearly cost after this major project is done.

Rick Chambon, Adult Outreach Coordinator, requested funds for the Adult Winter Reading Program and to assist with the cost of his attendance at the Public Library Association Conference in Feb of 2020.  Members voted to approve this request.

Winter Reading, which will start in January 2020, will be a book about Heddy Lamar, Hollywood actress, and her invention of a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes.  This technology is used today in Blue tooth and Wifi.

Teresa reported that the library is looking into replacing the meeting room’s tables and chairs.  She said that FOL might consider assisting financially with this project in the future.

A slate of officers for the next two years was presented.  Diane Kendrick, President; Joyce Morgan, Vice-president; Marylou Gotwald, Secretary and Lynn Goodwin, Treasurer.  Jodi Lee and Allyson Frederick  were nominated for at large board members.  The third board member will be chosen at the January 2020 meeting.  The slate of officers was approved.
