There was a report from the Fall Book Sale. A profit of $380.50 was made. The next book sale will be in the spring. A discussion was held about where the money we make goes. Mainly, it is used for any needed projects and staff training the library needs that can not be covered by their budget.
Business memberships will be offered again in 2019. A discussion was held about using envelopes instead of just a folded mailing. It would be more expensive, but it might generate a better response.
Jodi Parsons will talk to the Rotary Club in January 2019 about Friends of the Library and what we do for the library. This will be prior to the business membership forms being mailed.
Rick Chambon, library liaison, reported that he is in the final stages of the Winter Reading Program for 2019. The event will run the last part of January and then, following a break, the last part of February.
The book title is “The Soul of an Octopus: A Surprising Exploration Into the Wonder of Consciousness” by Sy Montgomery. The book was a National Book Award finalist in the past. There will also be a program on the diversity and beauty of the islands of the Caribbean. Books are now available for check out at the main desk. Anyone interested in participating can register at the main desk or call 812-254-4586.
